Room to Read
Congratulations to our Kingsworth Students who took part in the school’s first read-a-thon which was held over 4 weeks in March. Through finding sponsorship and by organising events such as a bake sale, a raffle and guessing games, they managed to raise an impressive 2,803.62 Euros for the charity Room to Read.
Prizes were awarded to the student in each participating year group who managed to raise the most money. Well done to the winners: Annabel Fleming (Y9), Victor Pardé (Y8) and Anja Shorey (Y7)!
A huge thank you to all of the enthusiastic participants who have made our first read-a-thon so successful. The money raised will help to transform the lives of children in the developing world enabling them to improve their literacy skills and reading.
2,803 Euros is enough to do all of the following things:
- Provide 243 books for early readers.
- Support a year of life skills education for a girl in secondary school.
- Support a girl for an entire year in the Girls’ Education Program.
- Provide a teacher and a librarian with essential training and coaching to nurture young readers
